Media Contact: Michael Drabenstott (610) 417-0503 drabenstott@fast.net Two ARS home automation projects win regional building awards ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Two home automation projects by Advanced Residential Systems have won top honors in the 2000 Lehigh Valley Builders Association annual awards. ARS captured the "Specialty Project/Home Automation over $50,000" category for a fully integrated home in Villanova, Pa. The 8,900-square-foot home features more than 150 components -- home theatre, stereo, security, lighting, temperature control and more -- combined into one seamless system that offers the homeowner total control of his living environment. By using controls simpler than a bank ATM (and never more than five steps away), ARS put the power of a security officer, disk jockey, theater manager, butler and lighting controller at the owner's fingertips. ARS also won the "Specialty Project under $5,000" for a through-the-wall cabinet for audio-visual equipment. ARS converted a shared wall into a large cabinet that provided front access to the equipment from the living area and rear access through hinged doors from an entry hall. An attractive radiator cover was incorporated into the design on the hall side, making the project both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Advanced Residential Systems These awards mark the second consecutive year ARS has been recognized by the LVBA. The company won an award in 1999 for "Best Specialty Project in the $50,000 to $100,000 Range." In its 10th year, the Lehigh Valley Builders Association Awards honor 25 home building, remodeling and specialty projects. Judges were drawn from other builder groups throughout the state. All entries were evaluated anonymously.
